I found out that I definitely recieved a Nation Guard scholarship. Full paid tuition for the next 2 years. It's a good thing I only have 2 years left :P

I did my ACCT test at camp shelby this weekend for ROTC/National Guard. It was pretty fun actually. PT was at 5, ran about 2 miles in formation and did some other stuff, I did well and kept up without any problems. Then we did a ropes course and rappelling, had some boring classes and at MRE's. Later we went to a firing simulation and used M16's in mock combat scenarios. Overall it lasted about 3 days. We were the first two ROTC candidates to go through this program. Most have to go to 5 weeks of training to come in to ROTC, but due to past leadership, athletic and academic experience and a 3.0 GPA I was accepted into a new 3 day event. I really wanted to do the 5 weeks course, but the literally begged me to do this.
I've decided to go to either airborne or air assault school next summer. I want to do both eventually and maybe ranger school. I can't believe I'm actually willing to jump out of a perfectly good plane, maybe something is wrong with my head

ok, so i'm finally updating this thingy. my harddrive crashed and i was just too lazy to reinstall lj when i got the replacement. well, i'm finished school for the semester, got a great new classical guitar, bought a turkish 8mm mauser and got married... wait no i'm lying, i didn't finish the semester... wait no i lied again, actually i'm not married :P...
I did however join the national guard. Thursday I will be training in camp shelby for 4 days for ROTC. Later this summer I will be placed as an SMP E6 with the 155th infantry company B. This is pretty cool because my grandfather served with the 155th company G when he was in the south pacific. Currently the 155th infantry has volunteers in bosnia. I'm excited. I'm also getting a full paid scholarship for the next two years from the National Guard for going throw ROTC. After I graduate I'll serve for 6 years, but if I like it I may stay in it.
soooo, yes, i know, i've lost my damn mind, and yes i know it's even worse than anyone thought since i actually asked to be placed in an infantry division, but hey, it will be exciting

School finally started this week. I'm taking a pretty heavy load. Decided to switch theory teachers this semester. It's not that I don't think my other teacher was bad, but I just had a really hard time in his class. I think it's because he didn't drill us enough. Hopefully this other one will be better. Started my Advanced Audio Engineering class monday. It's at Millinium Music off campus in their studio. Really nice set up there. We'll cover basic (not really that basic actually) studio recording and live sound this semester. Next will be more advanced.
Amanda went shooting with me yesturday :) She's the first person I've ever taught to shoot. I let her shoot my dad's J C higgins .22 revolver and I took my Ruger .45 I wish she could shoot the .45, but it's WAY too big for her hand. She could barely reach the trigger on it. The .22 has a pretty small frame for a "medium frame" revolver. The range unfortunately was busy so I she had to shoot from 25 yards her first time out. She actually did pretty well considering it was her first time. I could see the noise and shock waves from the guys shoot rifles scared her a little at first, but i'd already warned her about the shock wave. If you aren't expecting that it can be pretty intimidating at first. She got used to it quickly though and was pretty relaxed by the time we left.
I shot the best I have with the .45 yet. I've put about 600 round through it so far so it's just now getting nice and broken in. My fist shot was DEAD center bulls eye from 25 yards. I was proud :) My groupings are getting better. I just need to work on being more consistant with my trigger pull.

so what a week... good things that happened:
my parents got a new phone so i got their old answering machine
my parents got a new car so i got their old one which is good becuase the clutch doesn't slip and it doesn't vibrate at 60 and the radio and tape deck work
god doesn't seem to hate me as much...
wierd stuff
ok last week amanda and i were watching the meteor shower on the dam of the lake at my parents around 4 in the morning. So of course my parents have to get up and go watch the meteor shower with the neighbors on the dam. So I see them coming up the road and even though I couldn't really see who they were I knew it was them. They walk up the dam, look at my car, say hello and keep going. Finally I ask my dad what time it is. he ignores me, I ask again "dad, what time is it" his response "oh hey there son, i didn't know that was you" sigh... So we spent about an hour making fun of my parents :) I love them dearly, but they are such dorks. but see, that's not the weird/bad thing.
Later this week at thanksgiving dinner at my grandmothers, my grandmother kept asking me about who that girl was. ummm it's amanda. my grandmother "well i just can't get anything out of you" sigh yet again. and of course my mother goes on... "what are her parents name, how old is she, where does she work, where does she go to school what do here parents do, where do they go to church, etc etc etc..." my dad responds: "dammit ann leave the boy alone!" yay dad! from now on I'm taking applications for any girls I come in contact with to fill out... then right as everyone in the family sits down in the living room my uncle walks up and in front of everyone says --> insert redneck voice here <--"so lee, who was that girl you were making love with up on the damn the other night?" OK WAIT JUST A DAMN MINUTE HERE!!! I swear to god it's like junior high, except my parents are the locker room companions... how does it get from amanda and i sitting on the damn to "making love"??????? about this time I try my smooth subject change hoping my grandmother couldn't hear what my uncle just said... "so there was this squirrel and ummm yeah, he like had these socks and stuff" *everyone looks confused* ahh good, it's working, then at a stratigic moment I stand up and yell "GO GO GO!!!!!!" *pretending to actually be interested it watching sports* bleh, but hell, it worked, everyone then diverted their attention to the television and left me the hell alone.
and then my brother comes from atlanta with his wife and kids. So like a responsible gun owner I put the cable lock on my pistol and hide it in my parents room. and then of course my mom says "oooh lee i was telling sam about your new gun but i couldn't find it (commentary: thank god) do you have it with you, you should show it to him" grrrrrr ok, i show it to him yay, put it back up... .then my nephew comes out and my mom says " you have to show it to joey too!!!!! *she's so excited for some weird reason*" grrr, i go get it... ok, he's 12, never touched a real gun, never tought how to handle one, and i'm supposed to let him handle my .45 auto. so I ask sam if it's ok because unlike my dear senile mother I do realize it's his parents who should decide and not her. he says sure it's ok and his wife screams "noooo sam don't let him touch it, remember how charlie shot off his thumb" sam's rebuttle "awww it's not loaded" and I'm thinking, yes it is, it's always loaded unless it's properly field stripped therefore even if it isn't loaded it's loaded and treated as a loaded weapon. therefore there is never any question. of course i leave the magazine behind, open and lock the slide, and check 3 times to make damn good and sure it isn't loaded. mom comes in "ohhh let him hold it" oh god, this is terrible. I hand it to him trying to instruct him on how to handle it properly but you know, 12 olds don't listen... I'm sweating bullets and then my mom tells me to show it to my neice. you know, I really should have said no, i don't know why i didn't, it was stupid, and i'll never make that mistake again, parents or not. Later I try to explain to my mother why it was hidden and locked up to begin with, but she just says "oh well he was shooting that bb gun all day" umm great lets do a quick comparison... bb --> . .45 ACP --> O don't get me wrong, the bb gun should be handled just as anyother gun, but ummm ya know, it's just not the same... so thats my story

weeee played nintindo way to long last night, i suck at it, i die too much. quake is much better. giving nat guitar lessons now which is great because I get to see here more. Makes h-burg much less lonely. I was so proud of her, we went to the cubbyhole last week and she didn't even try to steal anything. :)

the moon was really pretty tonight... I had fun, I'm a jedi h4X0r. went to the cubbyhole first for a costume party. It was fun. Paul was a jedi also, but I'm obviously more experienced in the ways of the force :). Later I went to the hippo to meet trish. we danced until it closed and went home. Oddly this has been one of the funnest halloweens I've had in a while.
I'm going to see nat tommorrow although she hasn't really made it clear where exactly i'm going to meet her.

had our stupid little choir concert last night where we sang 2 pieces of music and were expected to sit around in our retarded cheap tuxes for 2 more hours while listening to the other choirs make us look like complete and total losers...
before we went out on stage I hear a student say "ok guys, I don't know what your religious preferences are but..." I immediately walked out. It took them fucking 10 minutes to pray because one member is apparently a southern baptist preacher and they are the most long winded people I've ever heard. Don't get me wrong I feel they certainly have the right to pray when ever and where ever they want to, I just really would like to see what would happen if I asked everyone to raise a circle... any way I really dislike most baptist ministers, they all look and sound like used car salesmen, I don't trust them at all. This guy came up to me earlier and made some stupid comment about wanting to get his tongue pierced with a diamond stud so he could get attention when he was preaching... he was being rude about it so I said, "they aren't for preaching, they are for cunnilingus or fellatio, which do you prefer" insert evil stare here... yes I'm an asshole, I know it, but I'm tired of him running his damn mouth about things he knows nothing about. I'm tired of him preaching the evils of drinking to everyone who looks like they have a hangover... no I don't drink, but who am I to say it's evil... what an idiot
